Queen Mother’s Clothing Guild President Fiona Rivaz recently attended the Little Marlow and Well End Women’s Institute’s Summer Exhibition. Read on to hear about Fiona’s experience of this event and the ongoing generosity of this organisation for which we are so grateful.
‘It was a great honour to be invited to the Little Marlow and Well End WI Summer Exhibition and see the many beautiful items created by their members. The competition classes included cookery, poetry, flower arranging, photography and of course knitting/crochet. External judges provided feedback and a prize was given to the winner of each class with a magnificent cup being presented to the Victor Ludorum. All entries to the hat competition have been donated to QMCG and I was able to take those, along with some blankets and other items, home with me. The WI members have been producing items for QMCG since at least the 1980s, they used to be part of Jocelyn Bailey’s group. I thanked the group for their on-going support and generosity and told them the dates for View Day, they hope to send a contingent to the Palace as they do every year.’
