This years’s AGM which took place on Wednesday 6th May at the Lansdowne Club in central London was very well attended with over 70 Presidents, Vice-Presidents and supporters attending.
Mrs Liza Jones chaired the last meeting of her three-year term as Chairman thanking all those present for attending and giving a report of her final year. She welcomed all those who have become Presidents over the last year, Mrs Miriam Ansell, Mrs Sarah Cotton, Mrs Susan Guppy and Mrs Nadia Jupp and thanked those who have retired for their hard work. Amy Williams, Events Co-ordinator from Buckingham Palace was introduced to the QMCG membership and Mrs Jones said how much QMCG look forward to working with her at Packing Week following the retirement of Brian Andrews and departure of Jeremy Gale.
Mrs Jones thanked the membership for their generous donations at 2014’s Packing Week at which over 21,000 garments were distributed to 55 charities in England and Scotland. This was facilitated with the aid of members of Veteran’s Aid under the leadership of Dennis Murphy whose assistance was greatly appreciated, in 2015 Jon Fullan will be taking over this position.
Reports were also given by the Presidents of the Schools Group and Royal Group and the Treasurer.
Ms Vicky Good, author of ‘The Warren House Tales’, gave a most fascinating illustrated talk on ‘Women and Philanthropy in 19th Century Britain’.
At the close of the meeting Mrs Jones introduced Mrs Majella Forster to the membership as the newly elected Chairman and handed her the Chairman’s badge. Mrs Forster thanked Mrs Jones on behalf of the QMCG for her sterling work during her term of office and presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Refreshments were enjoyed by those attending and the afternoon was a great success.
